Apple Festival

Our favorite farm hosts a Fall Festival
every weekend in September and October.
Last weekend was the "Apple Fest" and despite
the frigid temperatures, we didn't want to miss it!

We bundled Carter up and he wound up having a great time.
He was so darn cute that I couldn't put my camera down.
I'm terrible at choosing favorites, so instead I'm posting
a ridiculous amount of pictures from our day.

Carter doing his very deep "moo" like a real cow

Not so sure about the straw maze...

...until he realized there were TUNNELS!!!

Not impressed.  At all.

Fresh donuts - piping hot with cinnamon sugar and maple frosting.  Ridiculous!

Poor Carter's nose was bright red from the cold!

In the barn, they had samples of about
a dozen different types of apples.

They were also pressing apples
to make fresh apple cider.

There was apple butter boiling in a big "cauldron."

Carter got to have a taste of it.

And another.

And one more.

Then we were off to the corn maze

where Carter burned off some calories

running around

and playing hide and chase with Daddy.

Are you coming, Mama?

The playset near the corn maze had a little
platform about 12 inches off the ground.

But you'd have thought he was on top of the world
with how excited Carter was to stand on it!

He was BEAMING!

Carter spotted some horses plowing a field,
so we had to go get a closer look.

Carter cried every time the horses walked away from us - so cute!

I think the guy felt bad, so he stopped for a moment and let Carter say hi to them.

We stopped inside to warm up for a few minutes and Carter enjoyed this playset.

In another barn with lots of animals, Carter
discovered how much he loves chickens!

He didn't even want to LOOK at the adorable piglets.

I may or may not have caught him with his MOUTH on the chicken cage at one point!

Who was more blind, Carter or the pig?

When we're at home, Carter spends more time
talking about goats than any other animal.
So when we found some real ones outside,
he couldn't believe his eyes!

Then we found this friendly guy

who was as interested in Carter
as Carter was in him.

So Carter even got to pet a goat!

(Daddy got to pet him, too.)

We had a quick peek at the sheep.

And it was time to head home.

It was a cold, but very fun day for all of us.
Our favorite fall activities are so much better
now that we can share them with this guy!

We love you, Buddy!

  1. I love all of the pictures! You can never have too many! Carters smile is infectious. And I LAUGHED so hard that Carter may or may not have put his mouth on the chicken coup!! Too funny - Lia "kisses" all kinds of things I wish she wouldn't :)
It looks like a great farm to go to for a fun fall day.
