Snow Much Fun!

Almost ten years ago (the first winter we were married), Michael started shoveling snow for our little dog Molly.

What began as a path off the deck and a little area for Molly to "do her business" grew into longer and longer paths winding all over our backyard.  Since we had no human kids yet, Michael would go out and chase Molly all around the paths, throw snowballs for her to catch and play hide and seek with her in the snow "tunnels" that were often waist-high.

Once we had Carter, the paths gradually got shorter and shorter until we were back to one very small path.  Now that Molly is "getting up there in years" we are becoming more aware that she won't be around forever.  And so out of love and guilt, Michael decided to shovel some good paths for her again this week.

Molly has loved being able to run around outside again and I've even noticed an extra spring in her step the past few days.  Sadly, we had temperatures in the high 40s this weekend, so before the snow melted away we all headed out to the backyard to enjoy the paths together.

It was Carter's first time and he loved it!

I think he was a little cold...

...and incredibly annoyed when Michael threw a snowball to Molly instead of him!

Carter had a blast exploring the paths and playing with his daddy.  And Michael had a new snowball target!  Believe it or not, Carter was a willing participant and was upset when Michael stopped throwing snowballs!

Here he was instructing Michael to throw more snowballs.

About to take one to the face!

Not so sure about that one.

Maybe that's enough snowball throwing.

Molly loved having all of us out on her snow paths, too!  She had a blast running around with Carter and trying to catch the snowballs Mike threw at him.  I love watching her interact with Carter.  I'm glad she's in good health and he's able to enjoy her before she gets too old to run around with him.

I absolutely LOVE this shot of Molly getting ready to intercept a snowball!

During all the running around with his daddy and his dog, I somehow managed to wrangle Carter just long enough for Michael to snap a few pictures of him with his mommy, too!

And then he was off again...

Thank you, Michael, for all your hard work.
We couldn't have asked for a more perfect day out in the snow!

  1. Wow - you all have a lot of snow! It's amazing just a few hours away from us and it's a totally different snow game huh!? It seems this season we get a few inches one day the next day it's almost gone.
Carter looks like he is having a BLAST :) We used to do the same thing for our dog when he was around and he was an 81lb lab!!! Our fur-babies are always our firsts!
